With respect, honor and dignity my thanks go to...
..the individuals that earned my respect, that I value, Men and Women who stood ABOVE me, I looked up to, people that appreciated me and held my hand in MY journey into the Talent/Fashion and Modeling world. A little mention of the important contribution they and others including my family, in helping shape it. Oby, Tony, Benson, Mrs.Kamunge and Janet. Here is how.
1995 - THE PLATFORM
Oby Obyerodhiambo (My respected Mentor and Icon through whom the whole concept of Concept Development was revealed). Theatre Workshop Productions (TWP) and Mzizi Cultural Enterprises crew - with due respect to the Lt. Johnny Nderitu and Lt. Bantu Mwaura (RIP). I was an actor with these two groups immediately after high school, young and naive but was received, accepted and offered immense support and understanding. Here, we created shows from a statement, an observation, a person etc, seen as a concept. It is the seed that yields Concept Development and my desire to do treat others well. Kim, Aghan, Mueni, Tyson, Chris, Gituura, Amadi, Catherine, Wakake, Nakhamuna, Maende, Buluma.... and all others, thanks.1995 - THE INSPIRATION
Tony Mwangi (now in Events), whose dressing caught my attention at the Kenya National Theatre so consistently for so long I had to ask, "where do get your clothes from?" ...and with that question, he was to tell me that he was a model and went on to invite me to watch their rehearsal (catwalk) at The Fashion Place current spot where Galileo currently stands. It is the seed that yielded to my Talent Scouting and Image Consultancy. Spotting potential, the X-Factor, IT, the 'what' that stands out, which is the most important attribute any talent should have.1999 - THE OPPORTUNITY
1999 - TRAINING AND LEARNING
Mrs. Kamunge (Principal of Vera Beauty College). I watched her all the time she demonstrated moves and poses to the young models, pulling some male and female look and after sessions would seek to know why that, the other, when and which. She taught me these things. Then I went to dig further from people involved and the net and apply my Concept Development background to interpret all I saw and apply it during club training sessions, where it made sense. The internet later opened it up wider for my research. It is the seed that yields my training prowess, which is conceptual and research based that I offer to aspiring talent.1999 - CHALLENGE
Janet Leshamta. Oh she had grace, smoothness and swagg. She would glide so good her curves swaying effortlessly to create what I'd today saw was queenly. And Queenly it was because as soon as I joined and we started working together, KBC was to Launch a TV station, then called Metro Television. The launch concept had Metro TV as a baby born of a King and Queen, and Janet and I took those roles. Yes we played the main guys. Anyway, so Janet used to train models and Fashion students and as her class grew she had less time for the lot she had. When the idea of Miss Tourism Kenya was conceived later in 2000, she had too much on her hands to deliver and I was challenged to handle the training and Choreography of the 2001 show. I took it and delivered the following- Debra Sanaipei Ntimama and Aqua Bonsu - Miss Tourism Kenya and Miss Earth Kenya 2001 respectively.
- Vivienne Maina and Winnie Omwakwe - Miss Tourism Kenya and Miss Earth Kenya 2002. Winnie rose on to become Miss Earth (World Title)
- Lisa, Hazel Nzioki Miss Tourism Kenya and Miss Earth Kenya 2003 and I trained the sensational Ajuma Nasenyana, one of the world's renowned black supermodels in the same year.
